Are you an experienced traffic engineering professional looking for an opportunity to make a visible difference across our communities? We are seeking a proactive and collaborative Senior Traffic Engineer to join our Parking Services team, where you will help shape effective, sustainable traffic and parking solutions across Hertsmere and support our partnership work with Three Rivers District Council.

In this varied role, you will provide strategic advice on traffic management and parking policy, lead consultations and the implementation of Controlled Parking Zones and Traffic Regulation Orders and oversee associated engineering schemes. You will prepare reports and recommendations for senior managers and elected members, work closely with residents, businesses, contractors and partner organisations, and support the day-to-day supervision and development of the Traffic Technician.

We welcome applications from candidates with an appropriate professional qualification in civil engineering or a related field, together with experience of traffic management schemes, Controlled Parking Zones, Traffic Regulation Orders and public consultation. You will be organised and solutions-focused, with strong communication, project management and analytical skills, and the confidence to work with customers, colleagues, councillors and external partners. You should also be comfortable managing competing priorities, working across two locations and attending occasional evening or weekend meetings.

The post is offered on a permanent full time basis (36 hours per week).

Benefits include:

  • 27 – 32 days annual leave (depending on length of Local Gvt Service) - plus all bank holidays
  • Local government pension scheme
  • Flexi-Leave - accrue extra hours & exchange for up to 2 days leave per month
  • Free gym membership
  • Cycle schemes (Cycle to Work Scheme and free Beryl Bike rides for staff)
  • Free wellbeing benefits (such as lunchtime yoga, flu jabs, health MOT)
  • Employee Assistance Programme

Closing date: Monday 26th October
